The AIMS Athletics Department would like to congratulate AIMS HS senior Nadia Barron on being named as a 2022-23 CIF Spirit of Sport Award winner for the CIF Oakland Section during the Winter Sport Season.
During her Winter Basketball season, Nadia was a pivotal member of the Lady Eagles first BACSAC championship, a 74-43 victory over Kipp King. As one of the top defensive players in the conference, Nadia was named to her second consecutive All-BACSAC first team. With Nadia, the Lady Eagles became the first team in BACSAC history to defeat three Oakland Athletic League schools in a single season, received its first ever CIF Oakland Section Championship berth, and received the highest ever seeding in BACSAC history during the 2023 CIF Division 5 Varsity Women’s Basketball State Playoffs.
For her accomplishments, Nadia will be presented with a certificate and a $1000 scholarship at this years AIMS Athletics Department Sports Banquet.
Despite its humble beginnings, AIMS HS has racked up several CIF State recognitions, since 2022. In April, AIMS HS senior Ubadi Egeonu was recognized as the CIF State Winter Spirit of Sport winner and received a $2500 scholarship. In May 2022, the AIMS Lady Eagles Badminton team was recognized as the CIF state team of the month.
