S.E.A. Eagles Swimming Team Impress During Season-Opener
(OAKLAND, Ca) April 26, 2018 - After a one-hour delay, the AIPHS S.E.A. Eagles swim team competed against Skyline High, Castlemont, Oakland Tech, Oakland High, Kipp King Collegiate, and Madison Park during its April 26th swim meet at Castlemont High School, in Oakland, CA. The S.E.A. Eagles fared well in its second meet of the OAL swim season and ranged in performance: from stellar first place victories by seniors Nathan Huynh and Aiden Yip - to novice swimmers like Beatriz Velarde-Barraza, Paola Barron, and Kimberly Truong.
This meet was a vast improvement from the S.E.A. Eagles’ first meet, the Oakland Section Invitationals, which was held on April 12. During this meet, out of a total of 31 AIPHS swimmers present (the S.E.A. Eagles have over 40 swimmers), only 3 had prior swimming competition experience. But in the end, many AIPHS staff and family members were on hand to support the S.E.A. Eagles in their first-ever swim meet in AIPHS's history. “It was great seeing the support from parents, students, staff, teachers, and administration coming to support us, remarked AIPHS Swim Coach Jesse Rubino III. “There was a lot of smiles and fun camaraderie between everyone.”
During the April 12 swim meet, AIPHS junior Casandra Valencia marked the first ever heat winner for the school in her 50 Freestyle swim. Senior Aiden Yip swam the 50 meter varsity freestyle, and with a posted time of 24.72, became the first swimmer in AIPHS history to place first in a dual meet. Other notable swimmers at the April 12 meet included Adeline Ung, Serina Huang, and Isabelle Ng who swam the 200 Freestyle. Adeline placed 5th in the varsity event and Serina placed 3rd in the girls varsity 100 meter backstroke.

Lady Eagles Blank ACA 5-0; Soccer Earns BACSAC Playoff Berth
(HAYWARD, Ca) April 27, 2018 - The Lady Eagles (5-2) expanded winning streak to four games after defeating the Alpha Cindy Avitia Jaguars (4-2) of San Jose 5-0 during Friday’s non-conference match-up.
ACA and the Lady Eagles were at loggerheads in the first half, as the Lady Eagles were unable to connect on multiple shots thanks in large part to the the Lady Jaguar’s impermeable sophomore goalie. But things opened up in the second half as junior Vanessa Rivas #9 scored her fifth goal of the season, and followed by another impressive 4 goal and one assist outing by the sensational senior Paola Barron (#14), her 17th goal of the season.
With Friday’s victory, the Lady Eagles enter Thursday’s regular season finale against Envision Academy with a playoff berth and a legitimate shot at earning a championship in its first year of competitive sports.
