Golden Eagles Volleyball Team Earn First Win In School History

(OAKLAND, Ca) The Golden Eagles Volleyball team overcame a rough start to win their first game in school history against Coliseum College Prep in three sets (25-20) (27-25) (25-17).

“It's been a long time coming,” Coach Cassandra Choi exhaled in relief. “We had some good hits and serve runs by some of the players but overall, tonight's game did not showcase our true skills.”

As Coach Choi noted, several missed serves and uncharacteristically sloppy play in the first and second sets allowed the game to be closer than what was needed for tonight’s win.  But in the end, the Golden Eagles (1-3) showcased their ability to persevere, pulled off the much needed win, and in the process, built morale heading into Wednesday’s matchup against the Oakland High Wildcats, the defending CIF Oakland Section champions.

The Golden Eagles will only have a brief moment to savor today's victory before facing perennial powerhouse - the Oakland High Wildcats.

For stellar play, including several serve aces, AIPHS junior Nathan Srey (#10) was named as the player of the game for tonight’s match against CCPA.

In honor of Wednesday’s showdown against the Oakland High Wildcats, all AIMS Staff and Students are asked to wear their red AIMS or AIMS spirit wear for the match.  Prizes will be raffled for those in attendance.
