The Lady Eagles To Begin Inaugural Soccer Season Against Rival Oakland Charter Academy

Beginning Friday, March 9, and ending Friday, March 30, the AIMS Athletic Department will feature stories from the AIPHS Lady Eagles Soccer, Boys Volleyball, and S.E.A. Eagles Swimming Teams.  This week’s story will highlight the upcoming season from the inaugural Lady Eagles Soccer Team.

The 2017-2018 AIPHS Lady Eagles soccer team will kickoff its inaugural season against rival Oakland Charter Academy, this Tuesday, March 13, @ 4PM, at Raimondi Field, in Oakland.  Led by Head Coach Yohannes Harrish, Coach Harrish has over twenty years of playing experience, including four as a college athlete for Holy Names University (Captain for two years).  Additionally, Coach Harrish has over 5 years of coaching experience with multiple clubs including Soccer Without Borders, Dublin United, Bay Oaks, Mill Valley Soccer Club, and the East Bay Eclipse Soccer Club.

Coach Harrish is excited about the opportunity to develop a soccer program at the high school level: “Over the last few weeks, we have made a lot of progress both as a team and individually. We will continue to work towards our ultimate goal, which is developing successful student athletes both on the field and off the field throughout the season.”

Despite the herstoric nature of belonging as part of the first women's soccer team at AIPHS, the 15 member Lady Eagles, which includes two Seniors, Luwam Ghebrehiwot and all-star senior Paola Barron, are not content with just having sports at AIPHS:  “In our final semester at AIPHS, Luwam and I will look to build a winning program and bring the first ever championship to our school!” exclaimed Paola.
