Champs! AIPHS Boys Capture BACSAC Cross Country Crown; Girls Place Second; 5 Runners Earn All-BACSAC Honors!

(Oakland, CA) Bearing the dark, bitter cold, and wet conditions, the BACSAC and CIF Oakland Section Finals turned into a golden afternoon, as the AIPHS Boys and Girls Cross Country teams captured lots of hardware during today’s championship at Skyline High School.

The AIPHS Boys Team placed first overall in the BACSAC Cross Country Championships, the first championship in AIPHS sports history.  Additionally, AIPHS runner Emerson Velasquez (Junior), Kyle Wu (Sophomore), and Alex Liang (Sophomore) placed 2nd, 5th, and 6th respectively in the BACSAC championships to earn All-BACSAC Honors.

The AIPHS Girls team had an equally impressive outing as they placed second overall in the BACSAC Girls Championships.  AIPHS’s Xin Huang (Sophomore) placed 1st individually as the fastest BACSAC runner while Jenn Nguyen (Sophomore) placed 6th to earn All-BACSAC Honors.

“After countless miles, gallons of sweat, and perhaps some tears of pain and joy, our suffer-fest practice sessions and race season concluded today with a hard fought victory,” Coach Jard Davis stated.  “Way to fight the good fight and finish strong. Today is a proud day!”

The AIMS Athletic Department would like to congratulate Coach Davis and the AIPHS Golden Eagles Cross Country teams for their historic seasons!
